1. Summary
Jawwws Bytes separates the technologies needed to operate the service from optional third-party analytics. We also use a first-party anonymous statistics service to understand basic use of our public website without creating a persistent visitor identity.
Anonymous statistics are not used for advertising, visitor profiling or cross-site tracking. Optional Google Analytics remains off unless you choose to enable it where consent is required.
2. Necessary storage
Some cookies and similar browser storage are necessary to provide the website and application, protect accounts and remember privacy choices. These technologies are not used for advertising.
Examples
- Authentication and session management.
- Cross-site request forgery and other security protections.
- Cloudflare Turnstile on selected public forms.
- Remembering the privacy choices made in this browser.
3. Anonymous site statistics
We use a first-party measurement service to understand how the public Bytes website is used and to improve it. This layer is deliberately separate from Google Analytics.
For this anonymous statistics layer, Bytes does not:
- create or store a visitor ID;
- set an analytics cookie;
- use local or session storage to recognise you between visits;
- fingerprint your browser or device;
- store your raw IP address;
- store the full user-agent string sent by your browser;
- collect precise location;
- connect the statistics to a Bytes account or workspace;
- track your activity across other websites or applications; or
- use the information for advertising or personalised marketing.
The service records aggregate page-view counts. Normal request information may be used briefly to classify a broad device/browser/operating-system type and a coarse country code before the raw values are discarded. Counts are aggregated by time period and public page rather than stored as a visitor history.
You can turn anonymous statistics off at any time in Privacy preferences. The only browser storage used for that choice is the preference needed to remember that you opted out.
4. Optional Google Analytics
With your choice where required, Bytes can also use Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and journeys in more detail. Google Analytics is a separate optional layer and is not required for the first-party anonymous page-view counts described above.
When optional analytics is disabled or has not been accepted, Bytes does not load its Google Analytics measurement for that browser under the current consent configuration.
On public pages, Bytes shows a compact privacy prompt while keeping the site visible and interactive. Optional Google Analytics stays off until you choose to enable it. You can reject optional analytics, accept it or open Privacy preferences, and you can continue using Bytes before making a choice. The prompt is not an acceptance-only cookie wall.
We remember either an acceptance or rejection for six months before asking for a fresh optional-analytics decision. You can change your choice sooner at any time in Privacy preferences. We may request fresh consent sooner if the optional analytics purpose or technology changes materially from what you previously considered.
We do not treat optional analytics consent as permission for unrelated advertising, remarketing or cross-context behavioural advertising. Any such purpose introduced in future would need to be identified and controlled separately.

6. Your choices
You can change both anonymous statistics and optional Google Analytics at any time. Turning either option off does not prevent you from using Bytes.
Your choice is stored in this browser and is not currently synchronised to your Bytes account. Clearing browser storage may reset the saved preference. If you have not changed it sooner, Bytes asks for a fresh optional-analytics decision after six months.
7. International approach
Bytes serves customers and visitors in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and Canada. Privacy and cookie rules differ between jurisdictions, so we designed the base statistics layer to minimise the information it collects rather than relying on broad visitor tracking.
In the UK, anonymous statistical measurement may be used without prior consent where the legal conditions for statistical purposes are met and a simple means to object is provided. European requirements vary by country, so Bytes avoids persistent identifiers in the base layer and keeps Google Analytics separately consent-controlled. In North America, the same base layer is kept separate from sale, sharing, targeted advertising, profiling and precise location uses.
Where a local rule requires a stricter treatment for a particular technology or purpose, we will apply that stricter treatment rather than using this policy to expand collection.
8. Third parties
Optional Google Analytics is provided by Google. Cloudflare provides infrastructure and selected security services such as Turnstile. Those providers process information under their applicable terms and privacy commitments.
The first-party anonymous statistics described in section 3 are stored by Bytes and are not sent to Google merely because Google Analytics is configured.
9. Changes
We may update this policy when our technology, suppliers or legal obligations change. The last-updated date above identifies the current version. Material changes to optional tracking purposes will not be treated as consent for a new purpose merely because you previously accepted another one.
